Whats the Haps

Here is the finale to my Wats the Haps columns; the end to a plethora of events and event reviews that spanned over a two year period. 2007 and 2008 (almost) has come and gone at what seems now like it all happened overnight, although the memories I carry from this period of my time being involved as the Social Rep on the Albany Students’ Association and serving you fellow students will remain ingrained in me forever!

I’ve had the very best of my time on this campus and the made the most of everything unlike my original plan… and I can safely say I can move on after 3 years on this campus with no regrets but having met a ton of great people, gained some awesome experiences and raised my intellectual capacity.

I would like to this opportunity to give a big thanks to everyone, especially my critics; you helped me grow and push me to achieve the unachievable. All my supporters and friends who have helped me out in everything related and unrelated, everyone that I have worked with on the Albany Students’ Association Executive and Staff, Massey University staff, Evolution Bar staff, I could carry on but if I have missed out anyone, thank you to you! I definitely have to give special mentions to Nigel Green ASA General Manager and ASA President, Brad Heap for working with me on campaigns and supporting me throughout, Shauna, Mark Dennis been on it with him from day one, Anna Magness and the Evo bar staff, Adele and Bronwyn for putting up with my bad boy behaviour and big thanks to Sikander Gore/C (campus arts) for being there throughout and for the experiences I have gained. I spent countless hours on events and promoting and other miscellaneous things along with Kiss and Sean – thanks for all the countless design work on posters…finally my folks and Dani for bringing me down to earth throughout the bumpy ride, ups and downs but mainly ups!

I’ve had countless of memorable occasions right from day one, beginning just after winning the elections in 2006, things that stand out in my memories are all the Orientations, Summer and Winter, especially Concord Dawn 2007, Hip Hop night with SirVere, Katchafire, Squeeze, Student Ball 06 and 07, Winter Orientation 2007 was a grungy night and that guy walking on the stilts with a chainsaw was scary! Millennium Village and Lucas Creek parties, birthday bashes, Uni. Games 2007 in Christchurch, Cricket Champs 07, just goes on and on!

Well I know I’ve definitely got to stop this somewhere and I will end it on the note that throughout my time at Massey Albany, I’ve had plenty of people say that they haven’t had a great time here or the social life is okay etc, etc… The simple answer is get involved into everything that there is on offer, get into it and make your little contribution into it all, only then can you enjoy the complete experience of university life and meet great people along the way!

Thank you to everybody once again and this is not a goodbye cause ill definitely stay in support and help one way or the otherJ. So see you all around!
