For PS3.

Out Now.

Normally when a game gets a lot of media hype, we can expect something that could very well be cra…a huge let down. However this was not the case with the latest large scale release: Killzone2.

Developed by Guerrilla Games, Killzone 2 is the third installment in the Killzone series, the others being Killzone (PS2) and Killzone: Liberation (PSP). It was released on February 26th 2009 exclusively to the PS3.

Now when this year started, I said to myself “Ron you’re gonna have to cut down the gaming and study hard this year (ha ha, apart from some occasional CoD4)”. I almost did just that…until I opened a box at work and found Killzone2. From that moment, I stuck somebody else on the counter and started up the game totally immersing myself in it. Wow…I had a lot of fun that day.

Killzone2 starts off 2 years after its predecessor. The battle for the planet Vekta won, the ISA take the fight to the planet of the Helghast, Helghan. Their main objective is to capture the planets’ Emperor, Scolar Visari. Without this becoming too much of a spoiler, I’ll just say “Ha ha…yeah that works well for us…good luck with that”….

Long story short we play through wonderfully animated levels where various levels of skill must be applied to defeat overwhelmingly awesome hordes of enemies. On our journey, we meet excellently voiced characters and we cope with loss when the protagonist from the first Killzone, Jan Templar is lost to us (sniffle). We also feel happiness when we gain a new buddy in Tomas “Sev” Sevchenko our new protagonist (yays!!!).

Now the best part of Killzone2 apart from the awesome gameplay, graphics, sound and ability to engage the gamer is, of course, the awesome online play. Killzone2 boasts an awesome 32 player match limit and my gawd it’s so much fun.
