It is always nice to learn about another culture through the magic of storytelling. I was vaguely aware of the tradition of arranged marriages in India before I read this book. But I must admit I was pretty fuzzy on the details – the image that pops up in my head is of a girl forced to marry a guy old enough to be her grandfather, in exchange for two goats and a donkey. Farahad Zama’s Marriage Bureau for Rich People definitely gave me a more pragmatic view on finding love in India.
